You can all clearly see from the polls, and a comment from someone with the pseudonym Frank Sinatra, that Bing did not take another Song Showdown win home with White Christmas. What did win? Who took home the Top 16 challenge? Will we do this all again in 2020? (of course we will)
In a resounding victory, Carol Of The Bells (Instrumental) - Trans-Siberian Orchestra added themselves to the ranks of Song Showdown winners with a victory over White Christmas - Bing Crosby 8-5. Carol of the Bells will be dearly missed in next year's challenge, but the ring of Bing will return for Season 7. In the 3rd/4th place decider round, we have The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole win the day against A Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives in a vote of 8-4.
Where does that leave the Top 16 Challenge? This year fifteen brave souls made their picks, selected their choice for the grand winner, and crossed their fingers while voting as songs were picked off one by one. It was a pretty close battle right up until the end with almost half of the teams having a possible win if they picked the correct song for the final showdown.
First off, we'll check in with an honorable mention this year. Fa Lala Lala has won the Song Showdown Top 16 Challenge twice, and this year came in with a respectable 36 points.
In 5th place, we have NowIhaveAMachineGunHoHoHo 37 points.
Tied with the same about 37 points, but getting the tiebreaker closer and their entry in sooner, Santa and His Elves!
In third place, and proving their chosen name to settle the debate once and for all, DieHard is not a Christmas Movie with 38 points.
Second place goes to former Top 16 Challenge winner NutMegEggnog!!
In first place, winner of the whole challenge this year....I hope they brought a coat because....Billy, It's Cold Outside with 41 Points! Great job!
